dont worry - i did find loads of things to do when i was out there. however, some need to go to the panel.
for "use 7 forms of transport in one day", i did the following. will these count:
elevator train aeroplane airport shuttle (the train type thing at airports) escalator moving walkway (like an escalator, but is flat rather than going up or down) car bicycle walking
on the first day in rome, i did all the above, except replace bike with taxi. will this count?
also, for "write home about something", i sent a postcard.
for get your portrait done, i got a charicature done instead. a portrait cost 30 euro, which i just felt was a waste of money, and i couldnt afford it. the charicature is funnier though.
for see the light at the end of the tunnel, i have a picture at the colloseum on the bottom floor looking through one of the tunnely things at the bottom.
think that is all for now.

oh yes, one more thing. does "roam in Rome" count as a place name challenge? (the place name challenge is doing an activity in a place of the same name. eg eat a curry in the town Curry, and put a ball in a mallard in ballinamallard.

They all sound fine to me, including roam in rome. In fact if I was to have my portrait done i would have chosen the charicature approach any day. Much funnier. I fear I may have slipped into third place.

no bob - no you are one point behind first place. it's heating up all right.
here is a suggestion for people to ponder. currently we have loads of vague challenges. would it be an idea to perhaps set a limit on the number that each member can complete (say 20 or 30 or so), so that they will concentrate more on the other categories. it would be good if we all did different vague ones. i'm not saying that we can't do the same ones, or that once someone has completed a particular one that noone else can do it. but the more variation the better. how does this sound?

Sounds good to me. I think 20 would be a good limit, because alot of them are too easy and therefore make the 60 and 90 pointers less worthwhile.

Right here is one for the panel. Today I was an extra in a film but in the end didn't end up being used in any actual take. it was a martial arts comedy and I had to play a gypsy. All I had to do was sit in an vw beetle van and then shake hands with a man who walked towards me, and later on I had to watch a fight. I sat in a wig in the rain for over four hours and we filmed the shot over and over again without the main actor. unfortunately by the time he arrived the weather was too bad and we had to quit for another day. I haven't the time to spare to go again, so i'm not goona be in the actual film. does this count? I know its a 90 so there may be some contention. I have loads of cool photographs of soaking wet martial arts experts and camera's and stuff.

This is the most difficult decision the pannel has faced to date, you were an extra but you were not used on film. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm im sorry bob i have to give you a thumbs down on this one. you were really close but it is a 90 pointer and there hard for a reason. Better luck next time

i'm in two minds about the whole thing.
if you were filmed for a part that could have been included in the movie, but was cut from the final version, this is absolutely fine by me. just look at sauraman being cut from the last lord of the rings film - it can happen to even the best actors. however, what it appears we have here is bob being filmed for something that will never actually appear ie it wasnt just decided that it wouldnt be included - it was never going to be included because the main actor wasnt there.
also, it is very difficult (and probably costly) to become a movie extra, and i imagine takes a lot of research and time to be able to pull something like that off. plus, it was circumstances beyond bob's control. also to bear in mind that the banter 500 is mostly about comedy, and the fact that bob acted in a martial arts comedy is flippin hilarious, even if he was cut from the final version.
at the moment, i am verging on the verdict yes. as much as i dont want to give him the 90 points, i know that i'll prob be in a situation similar to his for some of my challenges, and i think a degree of leniency needs to be called for. the challenge is "be an extra in a film". which technically bob is - it says nothing about being in the final cut of a film, though this would be even more amazing.
i have a few questions though:
is it possible that the scenes filmed will be in the final version? did you get paid? how much did it cost? how far did you have to travel?
at the minute i am leaning on yes. in any case , lee will have to be consulted for the first time.

Just to answer your questions: There is no way my scene will be used I didn't get paid I got a free lift to and from the place It was about 10 mile away You can see a trailer of the film at www.brighton-wok.com

i'm gonna say yes. it's a funny story, and the trailer looks hilarious. it's all down to lee now.
here's another one from the panel. it's not dubious, but i dont have any proof. i entered a battle of the bands competition a while ago with a few friends. there were 5 bands, and we came last, despite the fact that we were the only band to actually get the crowd going. there was a cash prize for the winner. we played blink 182 - all the small things, feeder - buck rogers, and the obligatory nirvana cover. we also did a cross between an eminem song combined with kylie minogue lyrics for a bit of a laugh. we were called 9 miles. i can do a write up for the event, but have no photos or recording of it.
as for general things where we have done them and have no proof, will a write-up suffice? i think as long as there is something to go on the site , though of course if you can get a photo then that should be used.

for "buy a complete outfit for under a tenner", what items of clothing do we need to have? is it just trousers, jumper and a shirt, or do we need to include shoes, pants and socks and all that malarky?

Just a write up should definitely suffice, as long as its funny. For example just saying 'in 1997 I climbed a really big tree' would be rubbish.
For the outfit I think trousers, shirt and jumper combo will do, or something to that affect.

generally when referring to an outfit its what you can see....on the outer side. so i would say bob is right. altho shoes do sometimes get included in an outfit depending if you are a male or female.
